  1. MSFT closed at $25.80 today so that's $129 plus broker commission.

If you go to Sharebulider.com they have $4 trades online plus a $50 sign up bonus.  I've used them and its pretty easy.  http://content.sharebuilder.com/mgdcon/j...

Or you can go here and find a discount broker to buy the shares through.

  2. about 130

sign up with online broker like scottrade

  3. 5 shares is hardly worth it quite frankly.   Microsoft does have a direct investment plan through Mellon Bank.  Call them at (800) 285-7772 and ask about the plan.  That will be your most simple way.

  4. You first need to determine what price you are willing to pay for the actual stock. The 52 week range is $23.19 - 37.50 with today's range being $25.48 - 25.94. While this will represent the cost of the stock price, you will also need to figure in the commission paid to your broker to place your order.

While the price of the stock will depend on the kind of order you put in (market vs. limit), you can expect to pay on average between $9 and $20 for that trade. I would recommend the source links below if you are looking to get into a low capital (<$2,000) account.

Good luck, and hope Microsoft turns it around for you, because they have done c**p for me. They just keep messing up and the economy or lack thereof is not helping their case.
