I have ten ft ceilings. I would either like to convert the underneath to have drawers, different types of storage or make it a desk area with a few shelves. Does anyone know where I can find plans for this? thanks!

  1. http://www.amazon.com/Loft-Bed-Plans-apa...

  2. Lowes and Home Depot have book racks at the front of the shop with plans and ideas. Also check Walden, Barnes & Nobles and Borders.

  3. Ikea sells it ready made

  4. Ikea's FJELLDAL full-size loft bed is $399 US, but of course not everyone lives near an Ikea - the closest one to me is 600 miles away. However, you can look at the Ikea catalogue and see what the thing looks like.

For plans to build one on your own, I'd first suggest checking your public library. Many libraries have scores of books containing furniture plans.

However, a queen bed might be too heavy to support this way. Most queen beds have an extra support beam running along the middle of the mattress, either long ways or crossways, and the support beam usually has two or three legs for extra support. You may find that the weight and size of a queen mattress will put more pressure on the kind of bed you're thinking of than it could handle.
