  1. Come on...they would not have hired a 14 year old. She's pulling your leg or you are making it up.

  2. If you live in the US 8.75 is not minimum wage. If you don't live in the US I have no idea.

If you find out that he has to pay you 8.75 I recommend you file a class action lawsuit and sue those corporate b******s! I wouldn't recommend suing them if it was a local business, but McD's makes a lot of cash...

  3. min wage is 7.25 not 8.75

  4. Your state may permit a sub-minimum wage for persons under 18.  Even so, McDonalds is not prohibited from paying you more, they just don't have to, and apparently, they are not, in this case.  How much an employer is willing to pay depends on many factors.

NOTE:  A state is free to require a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum, and several of them do.  I am not aware of any state that requires as much as $8.75/hr however, but check with the authorities in your jurisdiction.

  5. No, you don't have to be 18 to get it.  You're on a training wage, which is a wage that can be paid to workers under 18 who have not had jobs before, regardless of the minimum wage.  Ask them how many hours you have to work to get off the training wage (I am in BC, Canada and it's 500 hours here).  Training wages can be acquired from more than one job, so if you get 300 at McDonald's you'd only have to get another 200 at your next job.  Once you have 500 documented hours (keep your pay stubs), you are entitled to minimum wage.

I have two sons, aged 15 and 16, and they both started working at training wage.  My elder son is at just over minimum wage now and the younger is still at training wage, but not for much longer.

  6. Where do you live? That is very important. City? State? Country? Sometimes certain states will have certain law. Since it is McDonalds though, I'm sure that is true because they would not want to get major lawsuit.

  7. ur just gonna be broke.
