  1. i sonic good i wanna no soo bad

  2. They should post a sign on the menu that tips are appreciated. That way people will know to tip! Good luck!

  3. i dont tip sonic carhops. Whats the point? They walk it out to your car because they do not give you the option of walking in and ordering and the sonci where i live does not have a drive thru. Why should i pay them to walk out just because they dont allow me to walk in???

  4. I have always tipped at Sonic, usually $1 and the change.  I have always been a tipper, I guess probably because I worked as a server when I was younger.  I think that the credit card swipper @ sonic should allow for tips though because I don't always have cash.

  5. I always tip waiters because they go the extra mile to service us. They are always bringing refills, napkins, coming by to check on the table, and they are always available when you need them. When their jobs just specifies to take orders and serve food, they do extra.

No offense, but carhops on the other hand are different. I dont tip them because all they do is bring the food to my car, which is what their job specifies. Im sure you are getting paid for that. Carhops dont even take the order, its the person behind the mike. Carhops are never around for refills and you cant call them when you need them because you have to do the whole intercom process. I dont know how you guys do things in your area, but this is how it is here. So I dont tip them because they are simply doing their jobs, which is to bring a bag of food to the car. Not stay around and service us.

  6. It depends on the car hop. I used to work and manage Sonic up in Rohnert Park Ca and i understand how you feel. Car hops are a waiter or waitress of sorts and people just don't know how to treat car hops.  Be careful about your service people may think you are doing to much for a tip and it can turn off many customers. I've worked in the food service for 24 years in front house and back. Many times I'll tip a carhop for just smiling when he/she brings my lime aid or meal. If the hop does to much I wont leave a penny. You can do a lot without it being to much It comes with experience. Do you walk or skate? I did both even though my manager preferred walking.  if you skate be a safe skater and if you're good, throw in some dance steps on your way to a car so people can see how much fun you are having while working. if you're walking step up the pace a little and be bop around with the music it will help and people are more likely to tip a happy worker than someone who just gets the job done. Dont spill any food or drinks ever! it sets the pace for the day. Be safe and good luck! I Love Sonic Food!

  7. I like Sonic.  I probably use it less than some other fast food places but that's because I often like to eat in.

I hadn't considered tipping the carhops before but will consider it now.  I have tipped pizza delivery drivers and carhops probably work at least as hard.

It would not hurt if your manager posted a sign about tipping policy.  (Not required, but encouraged when service is good.)
