  1. Customers love being top priority. Welcome guests with a smile and tone of voice indicating you are there for their needs. Be very courteous, clean looking, and well groomed. Be sure to thank them for their business.


  2. Just be nice, helpful and have a big smile like you really are glad to see your customers.

  3. always have a smile on your face when any kind of customer comes and always be there to help and accept the things that you have to do and just know that your doing fine.

  6. Help people find their way and ask them if there is anything they need to know. Suggest good local restaurants and things to do or see that might make the trip more interesting. Help them be comfortable. There are all kinds of travelers and all kinds of reasons for a stay in a motel. Try to observe what they are like,if they real tired... keep the chatter to a minimum, just let them know you are there. Some people like to chat a bit and others just want to get to the room. You will learn a lot in this job about yourself and people.

  8. Empowerment is the key.  Take it upon yourself to fix situations with the guests yourself before you enlist the help of your supervisor.  You will learn what works and what doesn't.

    Learn your computer program for the front office inside and out, it will make check ins and check outs easier and faster for the guest.  

    Use the guests name whenever possible and offer your name for future assistance...."Your room is on the 7th floor Mr. Smith and if you have any questions at all, my name is____"  Using their name will make them feel welcomed and knowing your name will help them remember you if they want to compliment you and your service.

    Keep yourself organized and your paper work organized and clean so you know where to find things.  Also, keep a few pens in your pocket so you always have one.

    Offer to set a wake up call, luggage assistance, make reservations, review the hotels restaurants and features or places close by, offer to arrange for transportation if they're checking out.  And always wish them a safe and enjoyable trip home.

    Over all, be nice and friendly and just remember to smile.
