I work at an ampm in california and i want to know if i have to get paid over time.?

I'm going to work today saturday at 11 pm till 6 am sunday with a 30 minute lunch and then tomorrow sunday from 3 pm till 11 pm. should they pay me overtime and who do i have to get in touch with if they don't? thx for your answers

  1. overtime is required in most states only when the work-week exceeds 40 hours.  There are a couple states that require overtime whenever a single day of work exceeds 8 hours of actual work, but Calif is not one of those states.


  2. Why would you get paid overtime?! Saturday you are only WORKING 6.5 hours, and Sunday you're only working 7.5 hours.  The only way you would get overtime is if you work more than 40 hours a week. OR, if you WORK (not including lunch) more than 8 hours at a time (but some places do get around that..) And if you aren't on salary.
