They reduced our pay for so called benefits like insurance and an ira accounts. I want to know if they have to show us paper work to let us know where the money is going right away before they take it? The contract is new and we had to fill out applications like we had to get hired all over again. And We had our first pay check for this new contract and we dont know what kind of insurance we have or did we see any paper work for the ira account.

  1. The time to ask to see it, is BEFORE you sign the new contract.

You don't get to "approve" it,anyway - you either accept, or decline.

  2. Absolutely, if your employer have assigned insurance for you and the amount for premiums is being deducted from your salary then the employer must show you the documents for this reason. You consult with the employer and he/she will definitely come back to you with some good answers.

  3. Do you mean you work for a government contractor?  If so, ask your H.R. dept to explain any changes.  Employers do not have any involvement in IRAs so I'm assuming you mean a 401(k) plan.

  4. If you are a union employee, your new pay and benefits are negotiated by your union.  They do not have to show you where any cost savings are being spent.

If you do have insurance coverage available or a retirement plan available, your employer should show you which plans that you are allowed to enroll.  This is usually done through your HR department.  If you know who your union rep is, you can ask them.  They should know too.
