  1. You can't - it's up to the store's owner(s) to take the proper measures.  As gas prices keep going up, the rate of drive-offs keeps going up, too.  Local convenience stores have instituted a policy of insisting you pay before gassing up after dark.  Others have installed gas pumps that can be operated with an ATM or credit card - you can't pump gas until you swipe your card and the system validates your card.  Still others install video cameras that can catch the license plate numbers and can show someone who takes off without paying.  Still others insist on the old-fashioned way of having an employee pump gas after dark rather than allowing the driver to do it himself/herself.  Some patrons get ticked, but that's too bad; they're not the ones getting ripped off several times a week.

Like I said, you personally can do little unless you happen to see the person steal the gas - and then all you can do is give the license plate number and description of the stinker to your supervisor or, with prior permission, call the cops.

  2. grow up...kick their butt????

Maybe get a camera out there, record license plate number and call police.....or easier yet...make them pre-pay...........they cost people jobs because it is the workers responsibility to be sure to get info from plate and call plice if occurs or make it pre-pay

  3. I worked a while for a woman manager that would jump in her car and chase them down.

Every time the company refused to file charges for PR reasons.

Make them come in and pay first with out a credit card.

Watch the pumps.  One drive off can cost a lot in inside sales.
