I work in a restaurant. The GM has been doing drugs and drinking at work. Is there anyway to report this?

I do not want him knowing it is me...this could make my life h**l. Beyond him drinking and buying drugs at work, he also gives servers and cooks alcohol. Two weeks ago, he and 4 cooks left at 9pm and went to the bar across the street and drank. Middle of the shift when we were busy. the company has a strict policy about drugs and alcohol and the management hanging out with employees. The only problem is it was reported to his superior and he blew it off because they are friends. I want to get someone on this. I believe it is really dangerous what is happening but I do not want to be penalized. How do I do it anonymously?

  1. You basically have two options here:

One, if this kind of activity bothers you, get a new job.

Two, stop worrying about it and just do your job.

Has the GM's drinking, drug use, and hanging with employees had a negative impact on the restaurant?  Then go with option one...if not go with option two.

  2. Call corporate or talk to the owner. If you talk to corporate it is confidential.

  3. You should find another job, unless you're a drama queen.

"Oh but I love this job..." Who the f'ck cares. If the environment is so dangerous that you are worried, why would you continue to work there. Even if they do have an investigation. I doubt that your job or environment is so unique that you couldn't find a similar or comparable one at another restaurant. "But I've made best friends, or the fry cook is giving it to me so well..." So what. Make new best friends, find a new c*ck".

Even if you get the answer that you want and pull it off, think about how this is going to play out. This is a losing situation. Cut your losses. Move on.

  4. yes, anonymously contact the corporate level if there is one, or the owner, either by letter, or pay phone, you can disguise your voice or ask a friend to do it.  You could also call the cops if he is doing/dealing drugs... that would not only get him arrested, but would get him fired for sure.

  5. Most company's have a number you can call to report such activity anonymously. If they don't call your corporate office from a blocked number. They will investigate. They will send someone to interview every employee and they will keep your confidence. Good luck.

  6. send an anonymous letter to corporate headquarters.  If you're company doesn't have a corporate headquarters, send it the owner of the Restaurant.   Tell them you are afraid of retaliation.  Let them know it has been reported to upper management before and they are refusing to deal with the problem.  Let them know your next recourse is to report the drug dealing to the police.

I am sure they will jump on this like faster than you can believe.

  7. Find out the regional or corporate number...then get one of your friends to call and state that they were a customer eating dinner, had a problem with the food..requested to speak to the Gm and he approached them drunk. You could smell the alcohol on him a mile away..And then you noticed that half his staff was drinking too.

If that doesn't work..start looking for another job on your day off..When the new job interviews you..be honest..state that you were not happen with what the other staff did on duty, and you did not want to be associated with that.

  8. It's clear that your superior does not take his responsibilities seriously, and that in place of doing a good job he's ingratiated himself with corporate management so they won't fire him.

So you have two choices: you can either quit, or you can snitch to the cops.  They certainly won't blow this stuff off as cavalierly, especially if there was a major incident.
