  1. Have a look at your contract, some places have a salary only not just a wage which means that they don't pay for overtime. If you're working over 40hrs per week and doing extra hours have a word with your manager. Some employers like to take the mickey and not tell you what you're entitled too.

  2. If you are in NSW, Australia, you can find out about correct pay and conditions by visiting the website of the Department of Industrial Relations. I've put a link below.

The Hospitality Industry is a bit tricky because there are a lot of different categories for jobs that people do, and two people doing jobs that seem similar might be entitled to different rates of pay ~ such as working in a hotel bar or a club bar. Same job, different pay.

If you don't understand the information on the link below, you can also send the Department an email (scroll down the page), and they will write back with information that can help. I have done this myself and found the people very friendly and helpful.

They are a government department and will not talk to your employer or give any private information about you to anyone.

Good luck and best wishes :-)

  3. Any pay is correct as long as it is at least minimum wage

Overtime depends on the companies policy but most companies pay overtime for anything above 40 hours. I once had a job that paid overtime over 12 hours a day but that is very uncommon. Usually it is above 40 hours.

So, I think everything is legit.
