I work out on a treadmil for 45-60 mins a day

- various speeds and incline.(im trying to lose weight) my sis told me eventually i will start building muscle rather than lose weight? is this true! im very confused

  1. you will burn fat and build muscle but only enough muscle to be toned etc.


  2. You will burn fat if you continue to exercise and eat right. You will also build muscle. Depending on your weight now, you might not lose as much as you want to because muscle weighs more than fat.

    However, the numbers on the scale shouldn't be the only way you determine if your new lifestyle is working. That should be a part of it, but also look at things like how your clothes are fitting, how your blood pressure and heart rate have changed, and if you generally feel better.

    Look at Olympic swimmers. Most of them have BMIs that would be in the "overweight" section on the BMI chart. But are they unhealthy?

  3. You wont put on muscle from running, look at the long distance runners at the olympics. They don't have any muscle.
