  1. Unfortunately that's what will happen.  Nobody cares enough to find out about the issues and will vote based on hearing his view on one issue, or in some cases, just seeing his skin color.

The same goes for whites who were brought up in the era of segregation.  Some are voting McCain just because he is not black.

Men who believe women shouldn't work will also be voting Obama just because of Palin (because the VP should influence your vote soooo much *note sarcasm*).

These people who vote based on gender, race, or based on just one issue are mentally void of intelligence.  However, if you ask them how Britney Spears is doing or what the top song is on pop radio, they'll be able to tell you immediately.

  2. It really isn't any different than republicans voting for someone just because they are republican as well as democrats doing it.  People should vote on the issues that affect them not on the person or party but you aren't going to change things.

  3. I think I have a lot of trouble taking your statement at face value.

If that is the ONLY reason they are voting for Obama, that is, of course, racist.  I just can't believe that in a group of 20 people, that none of them have any better reasons.  There's a lot to respect and admire about Obama...and I can admit that even when I don't intend to vote for him.

  4. THAT IS ONE DUMB A$$ REASON!!

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE DEM or REP!!

  5. I'm black and I'm NOT voting for Obama because he's black. Those people are dumb....I was a Clinton supporter and now I must get behind Obama. I don't want another BUSH or McBush or Bush policies for another 4 years...we can't afford it!

  6. After 110 Years of Jim Crow and promises of more to come, how  would you vote if you were a "Black Guy"?

Does being a "Black Guy" presume that these men are under educated, under employed, under mined, and incapable of voting their economic and social interests?

Being Black or African American carries some heavy yet valid baggage.  The disparities are real and must be addressed.  They are not going to be resolved in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Georgia.

Read "Acres Of Diamonds" by Russel Conwell

We travel the world to tell nations that their roof is leaking and we will help repair everyone elses roof.  Our domestic economic and social roofs are caving in.  $300 Economic Stimulus Payment doesn't even buy a shingle.

    Remember "Community Organizing" is trivial.

Tell that to the people empowered by Senator Obama.

  7. It fits the definition of racism.  If you don't believe me, tell someone you're voting for McCain because he's white and wait for the reaction.

  8. I think it's about the same as all the women you see on TV who were voting Hilary, and now said if she's not on the ticket they'll vote McCain. They seem to have been supportive of her based on the fact that she was a woman and now switching votes just out of spite. Same with the people who need to keep bringing up the fact that Obama's middle name is 'Hussein' which is 'part' of the reason they won't be voting Democrats. It's really disappointing, but that's how people work. I guess.

  9. and we wonder why our country is divided? due to prejudice people like the 20 who are voting due to color (either side)

obama has made this about color. he has caused a divide. why does he have to point out that he is 1/2 black 1/2 white...I think we can all see that,  he made it to the presidential elections, I dont think it is us in the population who are prejudice but maybe just maybe....HIM>

  10. I think that is sad if they are doing that because he is black.  Voting for someone based on race is shallow, and it should not be the basis. However its bound to happen.  I think people should wake up and vote based on issues and not race.  Sure it will be a historic day if he becomes president, but if race is the only reason you are voting, then you really need to think again, because its superficial and it does not help us move forward.

  11. Pretty sad when someone is voting for somebody for such shallow reasons. I have also heard many that wanted Hillary just because she is female. You know so many people never study why they are voting for somebody or something and that just shows the ignorance of many in this country. By the way, there are just as many fools voting for McCain because they don't want a "Black person" in the white house. Fools, all of them.

  12. I believe that the dems get 92% of the black vote in the elections anyway. Let's see if they actually vote though.

My daughter and all her friends were backing Kerry in 04 and out of the 30 kids only 2 voted.

  13. I get the same thing.  I work in at a hospital and a lot of whites are voting for McCain because he's white and white women are voting for Pain because she is a white women.  So much for voting police'sssues.  Bottom line:  this election is about race. >><<

  14. That's just human nature. If it was a white guy that was a democrat running for the office that had the oratory skills that Obama has, he would be leading McCain by 50 percentage points. The democrats just keep shooting themselves in the foot every election by their choices for the presidency.

  15. I can answer that one of two ways

    1.  That is not the way it should be.  I'm a black man, but I was a Hilary supporter early on.  Then I researched both her and Barack, and I decided to back Obama.  Back the man because he's got what it takes to be a great President, not because he's black.  That's definately not the attitude that's gonna help black people at all.

    -or-

    2.  I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people NOT voting for Obama, or at all for that matter, because a black man is even a nominee at all.  Two wrongs don't make anything right, but they don't change anything either.

  16. I think if I had a magic want I'd turn you into a black and then you can come back and ask some very interesting questions here on Y/A.

  17. Ask them which party they voted for last time and while you are at it ask them which party supported Apartheid in south Africa for the longest time and fought tooth and nail to restrict sanction while they were trigger happy to slap sanctions on the old USSR for even less human rights abuses.

  18. did you remind them that obama is 50% white?  i'm voting for obama for his politics....not his race.  i find it disgusting that people would vote for either based on their race alone.

  19. Just as wrong as it would be for a woman to vote for Palin just because she's a woman. I'm for Obama so let them vote on, I just don't feel it's the right reason for voting for someone.

  20. I can understand why a person might have sympathy for a specific candidate because they may share the same race, origin, gender..but those things are not enough to get my vote. I very much liked Hillary and wanted her to be nominated and her being a woman helped but I would never vote for McCain/Palin even though I am proud that a woman made it this far. I simply do not agree with Palin's policies and her being a woman is not good a reason.  As for the 20 guys you work with, if I were you, I'd try to understand what this election means to a Black person. It goes deeper than skin color. African Americans were not even allowed to mix with Whites, eat in the same restaurants, go to same schools, sit in the same bus rows, let alone run for Presidency. Obama's nomination is an amazing step for them and I'm not surprised at all why they would support such progress. Finally, Blacks are traditionally Democrats anyways.

  21. Hey they are entitled to do that. it's their peregative. I'm voting for McCain b/c he chose the hottest babe in politics to be the next VP. And yet I'm looked down upon for being superficieal..ha...I can't wait to tune in to hear her speak. I'm in love.

  22. That is racism.

If you are voting for someone just because of the color of their skin, then you are only supporting your race, and not the bigger picture.  The US is more than Black, White, Male/Female, Republican/Democrat.  The US is a conglomeration of good people with good ideas and good plans.  Hopefully mostly everyone has the country's best interest at heart, and they need to vote for a person because of their ideas, not their color.

These African American guys are racist.  They don't see it, but it is what it is.

  23. And I suppose they said they voted for Jesse jackson and Alan keyes because they were black also..Obviously there is more htan Obama being black that attract people to him. He Got hsi start in Iowa in the Primary and Iowa is 93% white - so explain that.

  24. Let them be racist. I don't care. There are a great deal of black people who aren't racist, and eventually they will be the majority. Under McCain's plan of choice for education, we'll see much less of this, as the black community will be privy to better, more competitive schools. It's hard to blame them, anyway, their parents and grandparents were the recipients of an uglier kind of racism than they display. It'll take time to heal those wounds. But they'll catch up in no time.

  25. I assume these same guys voted for Alan Keyes--a black Republican--when he ran for president in 1996.  Did they?

If not, then they are not voting for Obama "simply" because he's black.

  26. I believe your statement and it's a very sad state of affairs.

Refer them to the following link...perhaps they will get an alternate view point from Black America with a different view:

    http://www.nbra.info/

I hope that your co-workers will think about the impact that they are making.  To vote simply on race is rather RACIST.  The perception that they give by voting on race is rather negative to themselves and the people that they represent.

Now if all 20 voted for Obama and pointed to issues, beliefs and values...then they have a fair argument and I have no issue with this.

Again voting for someone because of skin color is flat out wrong...I would say the same thing to anyone voting for McCain because he's white or for his ticket because he has a Woman VP.

Being Black or being a Woman are pretty cool to show the advancement of Americans, but for those voting simply on that fact is to put America back into a dark history.

I tend to believe that Americans are smarter than to simply vote on basis of Gender or Race.

  27. Wow you work with 20 black guys... LOL

If I was black I would vote for him too and be proud to say so.

I am white btw and I am voting for him because he is a Good husband, good man, he is smart, he is honest and Obama like myself was against the War in Iraq. I also think the troops should have been doubled in Afghanistan to get the real person behind 9/11... the Republicans failed us in many ways when you remember the victims of 9/11.

  28. yea that's how it probably is this year but i bet you if you ask those guys again if they would have favored Hilary over McCain and they would have said the same. well i know i would have

  29. Well, Gill, given the illiteracy of the question, I'd say I'm glad you have a job, because if you filled out a job application as carelessly as you wrote that question, I probably wouldn't hire you.

Did you mean what do I think of their statement?  Well, I'm not sure I believe that you work with 20 black guys who told you that they were voting solely for any candidate's race.  I suspect you are baiting for rants.

  30. don't they know he is half white (OMG) they need to stay home in November, it does not surprise me though, this is the mentality of this country and it starts with the liberal schools ruining our children at a very young age
