The airlines rules are much tougher than the Brazilian rules.  So check with your airline

type in "Brazilian Embassy in Washington DC"  into yahoo search engine.. and their website should come up.     they should have the info you need.. if not.. you can call them

No matter where you're going the rules are the same since the airport security in the US is made by the TSA.
