  1. I'd sure help when someone posts a question  like this if they'd tell us just what bike they're asking about. There is more than one '84 Honda Shadow.

    Go to Kelly Blue Book at kbb.com. On the left corner near the bottom, click on the motorcycle, and click on through to your bike...

    A '84 VT500C Shadow should be at about $1280.

    A '84 VT700C Shadow should be at about $1690.

    "The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. "

    KBB only gives dealer or trade in prices. You probably won't get what the dealer gets for it, and you certainly shouldn't pay more from a private party..

  2. I assune that it is the vt700cl model.

    retail = $416.00

    trade in = $312.00

    new value = $694.00

    note that these values are from a book... the bike would get much more than that with 5000 mi.
