I am looking for a home audio system that will provide me with top quality sound. Here's the problem...I have an old house, so wiring through the walls simply is not an option. I've been thinking about the Bose3-2-1 system (2speakers,1 sub), but the reviews I've read have been mixed. I'm also inclined to stay away from rear wireless systems since they are not "truely" wireless, and the necessary wires would still pose a problem. Does anyone have any ideas of how I may get quality sound without all the wires?

  1. It's hard when you can't wire any cables around.

Really the only problems with the Bose 3-2-1's or the Yamaha sound bar is that they are all simulated surround sound and it all depends on the acoustics of the room.  (They need the sounds to bounce correctly off the walls).

To get a true 5.1/6.1/7.1 system, wiring is the only option.

As you already know, going wireless is not a good option cause it decreases quality and has a slight chance of delay when uncalibrated.

    I'd say you're in a sticky situation.

  2. The Bose 321 is awesome. I've had mine for 2.5 years. I love it. And the sound is incredible.

  3. The Bose 3 2 1 is an option.  It works best in a room that has a back and side walls.

Yamaha also has a soundbar out there that is great!  It sounds horrible unless you set it up right.  Once the set up is complete including the mic test, it will debatatly beat the bose 3 2 1.

  4. If you really want excellent sound quality, there are many products on the market that will do better than the mass-market items you've seen in the big-box appliance stores.  A really good two-channel system will beat an average 5 channel system every day of the week, if it's well selected and well set up.  Find a high end audio store near you that can give you a good demonstration, and you will likely be amazed at what kind of sound you could be getting.
