ry much thinking of doing it in a year and I want to get some responses. I have read the journals, some of the journaling experiences online on the Peace Corps website. I have also talked to some people who have done it or know someone who has done it. I really don't see what is so selfless about doing the Peace Corps work. I see it as a tremendously rewarding opportunity. But as I was saying, if those of you who have done it or know someone who has done it find the time, please tell me at least a little bit of your experiences, perhaps of where you went and how it was. Do you regret it? Do you think it was a waste of your time? If no, why not? Has the experience somehow changed your life, or the way you see life? The way you behave, etc.? The way you understand things and see things, perhaps?

  1. I wouldn't call it "selfless". I worked 60 hours a week during the school year for $110 a month, but I learned a lot.

has more than I can paste here. The page "Peace Corps Links" has a link to the RPCV web ring, which had 48 other RPCV sites the last time I looked.

    Do you regret it? Never.

Do you think it was a waste of your time? No.

If no, why not? The sense of accomplishment, th elifelong friends, the knowledge that I changed the world. I didn't change much of it, and I didn't change it much, but I changed it for the better.

Has the experience somehow changed your life, or the way you see life? Yes. Nothing like travel to open your eyes.

The way you behave, etc.? I was pretty tolerant to start with; I got more so.

The way you understand things and see things, perhaps?

Yes. Again, you learn a lot by contrast.
