I am 20 and 6'1 about 320 i bench 250 for max 205 for reps i squat 250 for reps. Im a big kid and i am hoping to try and walk on at a d3 college as a lineman, i wanna go to buffalo state college. The only thing is i am at a community college now that doesnt have a football program. I still have 2 years there so by the tim i get to the d3 college i will be 22 or 23 am i still eligible if i go there for 4 more years for my masters? Do i even have a chance for a d3 school? Remember that 2 years i will spend getting bigger and faster.

  1. u should try for left end if your strong but right end if your fast and quick. I would try out if i were u so give it a try and u can play college ball for four years at buffalo state good luck.

  2. When you transfer depending on the amount of credits you're taking in class you should have 2 years of eligibility left. It doesn't matter what age you are it depends how on if you're enrolled as a full time student and how long you've been enrolled in junior college as. If you're only in JC for 2 years and you take a full load of classes when you transfer you'll have two years of eligibility left. If you didn't take a full load in any of the years you'll have how ever many extra years of eligibility.

And physically you should be fine to walk on to a D3 school just make sure you're in GOOD shape, run a lot.

  3. You have 4 total years of eligibility regardless of how many semester hours you transfer with - PLUS a 5th year to be waived.

    I played DIV 2 and a 5th year with 145 semester hours -

I had to be undergraduate registered for classes.

"Walking on" is a term used for Div 1 and some DIV 2 schools that offer scholarships and incentives to play. Instead of competing for a scholarship - you walk on to play.

More often than not, DIV 3 schools don't have athletic scholarships...

    in any case...

YES - you can play there.

    YES - you are eligible.

    YES you have a chance.

Contact the coach, let him know you want to come play for him and see what the standards are for training purpose:

ie how much you should bench and squat.

The most important thing you can do is contact the coach and follow his advice. Face to face is best - but get ahold of him.

    Best of success.
