Question:

I would like to become a film studies teacher for 16-18 year olds, how would I go about doing this?

I have a degree in film and english and would love to teach it as i am so passionate about film studies. How would i go about doing it? I have researched it a little but would like some words of advice or encouragement. Thank you in advance!

  1. I can't imagine there are many film studies courses in the UK. Certainly none of the three main exam boards offer an a-level course in film studies. Probably the closest you'd get is a Media Studies course.

    Most teachers of these courses will be trained as teachers, with Qualified Teacher Status, although some in FE colleges will have a similar FE-level qualification, without QTS.

    You will probably have to do a broader teacher training course, in perhaps English, or English with media, and then look for opportunities to introduce film courses, or film aspects to media courses once you have a post.
