  1. You will have to establish a pattern of consistently in as many tournaments as you can. You don`t necessarily have to win them but you will have to be  in the money day in and day out. Pick products that perform for you.  Approach the manufacturers off  those products for sponsorship. You will of course have to provide your statistics in the division(s) you have been fishing. You will have to sell yourself to them. You will also have to promise  to promote their products. You will tell them that you will work untiringly to promote the product and that they will be hard pressed to find a better representative.

    Good luck.

  2. Enter as many bass fishing tournaments as you can, make a name for your self by winning them, if you need sponsors ask around local businesses, often its good advertising for them. When you get better you will be asked to fish the bigger tournaments, also talk to the guys at the local lake and tackle shop they should be able to get your name spread around and ask them about local competitions.

  3. I've had two friends that were bass tourament "pros."  They were great guys and extremely talented anglers.  One stayed with it for the better part of 20yrs, if I recall.  The other, not quite that long.

At first, I was intrigued and had to hear all about it.  What I heard was not that wonderful.  Long, grueling days on the water...200+/yr, no matter the weather, no matter how crappy you feel.  And that doesn't even take into account the extended time away from family and the toll that takes on everyone.

And don't get suckered into thinking you'll get killer sponsorships that will pay your way.  You're competing in a field of thousands.  Typical sponsorships may cover your tackle requirements.  Some pros get help with travel expenses and the like.  Only the top tier anglers get big sponsorships, such as those that will provide a boat.  In addition to the boat, you'll need a truck to haul it all over the place.  The boats are expensive and so are the repairs/maintenance.  You'll wear out boats and trucks.  You'll need money for travel expenses and to cover the tourney entrance fees.  If that's not enough, you still haven't made a dime until you win.

A lot of 15 year olds know more about fishing...and cars, computers, politics, finances, & life in general...than adults.  Well, they think they do until they get older and realize they didn't really know so much.  But good for you for having the confidence.  In the meantime, I'd suggest putting in some angling hours outside of MI if you want to really learn bass.

  4. enter tornements, win them, get sponsers, get the ladies.

That's what you call a four step plan! I'll be waiting for the reward in making you famous.

  5. E B nailed it. Yeah, sure its a dream and if you dream big and set goals and know the importance of learning all there is to know? if you read every day to that end and study the pros tendencies that gave them a win on such and such lake during the 1979 classic and every single thing there is that can be learned form books. Then you go join a bass club and you do enter one contest after another and actually place in 50 percent of at least a hundred contests. Then for every guy who didn't prepare and didn't think that making it a job and taking it serious was important to be a winner?  Well only two in a hundred ever get into the top 200 anglers a year. if you want to beat the already disheartening odds then go to the library and get to work reading because if you are going to be one of the two out of two hundred you better have an advantage and if it isn't your brain then what will it be?
