I would like to begin working as an event planner, but i am not sure how/where to begin? Can anyone assist me?

I would suggest working with an existing event planner for a while first, to get a feel for the industry and how everything works on the less-glamorous side of an event.

I do know that during the busy season, some planners and their staff can work 48 hours straight prior to an event, and if a supplier delivers late, brings the wrong item, or doesn't show up at all, you need to think fast and have a lot of other names you can call that minute who are going to come through for you.

Or perhaps you'd be happy doing festivals, showcases, and sporting events, which are different animals completely.

Because event planners rely so heavily on word-of-mouth and referrals, if you're unexperienced in the field it's much better to cut your teeth at someone else's company. You don't want to be figuring all this out on your own and possibly handicapping your future growth by disappointing your first clients.
