I would like to breed my gerbils.?

I would like to breed my gerbils but I don't want more than one litter because I'm not sure I can place them all. I was wondering if this is possible. I've done my reaserch and it seems like you can't take the male out of the cage after mating. Is there anyway I can keep them from mating again after she has the pups? I would really like to breed again as it has been around 5 years since I last bred anything and that got way out of control. Most of them ended up going to the pet store and I would really like to give them to people that I know. I'm not trying to make a profit. this is purely for fun.

Just take him to a vet and get a vasectomy.
