  1. Gosh. what a question to ask. Are you a 2 yr old kid?

  2. There are books and videos out there. Try goggle building my own house. Lots of legal problems involved never mind the technical problems. Get a good builder to advise you.

  3. You learn to do this with 20 yrs of back braking work, dont be so DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR get a contractor.

  4. Many Community Colleges offer classes on home construction.  One of the local ones here even has a class on being the general contractor for your own home building project.

The home construction classes are quite good and educational.  Students actually build a home.  From foundation walls to framing, trusses, roofing, wiring, plumbing, drywall, cabinets, flooring, finishing, etc, they build the entire house.  It usually takes about 6 months, because there is a lot of instruction along the way, but you really learn a lot!

  5. With help of an Engineer you can design your home as u like

  6. Work for a contractor or construction company for about 10 years, then think about building your own house.

  7. Here is a great informative way to start.  A website that sells small home plans primarily for do-it-yourselfers.

Having a plan is crucial, especially for a DIYer.  Once you've browsed the plans, go to the forum link at the top of the page. I am a regular reader of the forum, which is full of posts by people doing their own construction, many off the grid, but also to get equity or become debt free.  Pay attention to the project portion which includes a home built by a 17 year old girl.  Not for the faint of heart, but entirely possible and doable. good luck.
