I don't have a clue how, where or when. Do you have any suggestions? I could not afford to have it done. Can you plant new where the old stumps and roots are, or do you have to dig them up down deep?

  1. some states like Fla will fine you big for cutting trees without a permit, others need nothing.

Now on that note: Electric companys will take down trees for free if there near a power line, call them.

If you cut down a tree and it damages someones house or car you will be sued. Thats an advantage of having a insured professional do it. Last you need to pay to have stumps cut out. Its fairly cheap, then plant anywhere you want.

  2. well: according to "Garden & landscape  it is very important that

you should know about this Answers Home & Garden  and

the Better Homes & Garden has a suggestion rent An Rototiller

or incase get a Tree Stump Grinder that would help

please go towards Home Depo's Tool Rental Center "

  3. Behold the power of Weed Barrier!

No you shouldn't have to pull the roots out way down deep, just level them off and cover with weed barrier.

Just take it one section at a time and the whole project will seem much more manageable and accomplishable.

  4. you need to remove the old stumps  if  you leave the top on it is much easier   drive around look at houses in your neighborhood, when you find one with planting you like ask the owner if you could take a picture and maybe a cuting from some plants or if they know the names,  take this to a good nursary buy the plants and start planting now is a great time so they can be establish betore summer

  5. i'm doing something similar--but don't have big trees, and i'm not replanting anything but grass. The previous owner planted $3 million  worth of plants and I don't have time for them. Where I've cut down some bushes and flowers, I've then poured on a chemical by Ortho called ground clear. It prevents new growth for a year, so it will kill everything, but you have to wait before planting anything new.
