  1. Please join Freecycle.org . It is a groupof local people where instead of throwing anything away we give it away for free. Membership is free. They are all over the US. Please join its a great way to help people & the enviorment at the same time. The only rule is nothing can be sold on this site.I found out from my local news channel who did a great story on them.

  2. Look in your phonebook or online for a local organization that helps foster parents.  They often get children, including babies, with practically no advanced notice and are very thankful for anything useable that they get.

Or try a crisis shelter for battered women.

Or a home for pregnant teens.

Or a church or synagogue or other religious organization that might know of needy people who'd be likely to use them.

(The problem these days is that too many organizations only accept *new* items for the people that they help.  Few people are willing to take used items.  But used items can be of great help to some people--especially to those who are in an emergency situation or who are struggling but don't qualify for aid.

So, you might find that a lot of charitable organizations would only want used items to sell at a fundraising sale.  While foster parents' organizations or shelters are usually very willing to take used items that are in decent shape.

Or you can join your local Freecycle (tm) group at www.freecycle.org or list them on your local Craigslist at www.craigslist.com and specify that you are only giving them to someone who will use them.)

  3. In our city, there are many excellent places to do that.

Low birthweight clinics, help poor disadvantaged mothers who can't support themselves.

Church run clothes closets who provide clothing for the poor, free.

Salvation Army, Disabled Veterans, Catholic Charities Refugee Services. Missionary groups who work among the poor in this country and abroad.  Second hand stores, who sell the items for almost nothing to people who need it and can't afford very much. The proceeds usually go to other good causes.

Ask your local churches, fire departments, hospitals, police departments, city or town hall people for leads if you can't find it any other way.

  4. Go to any church.  I am Catholic and I know that at each catholic church they accept donations and screens each family who asks for help to make sure that they are a truly needy family.

Just bag them up and leave them in the lobby or office at the church.  If leaving them in the lobby just put a note on them.

Thanking you in advance for your generosity to needy families.

  5. Sweet. What kind, what gender and what sizes?

  6. You could post them to give them away yourself on Craigslist.

Just select your state and city, then select the baby topic, then enter baby clothes free to whoever needs them. You don't have to list your phone number or even email. People email the site who then forward their email to you. Of course eventually you will have to let them come to your home or you meet them somewhere to give them the clothes.

    Craigslist is free.
