I am a single Mum of 28 with no family or friends in NZ so obviously have no help on entry that way. I do not have a particular profession, i am a Personal Assistant and perfectly good at admin etc. I have considered doing a hairdressing course or something so i have a trade to my name. Would this help? I do not have a particlar time scale in which to do this so there is no rush for me but ideally within the next 5 years or so. If anyone has inside information as in if you have done the emmigration or if you are going through it as the moment or even if anyone has any ideas of good websites etc i would be most grateful. Many thanks

  1. They're very, very picky.

You really do need qualifications, money and relatives already over there.  You've already been given a useful link above, so I won't repeat it here.

I looked into this myself several years ago (the easiest way seemed to be to marry a New Zealander over here - who wants to go back home eventually - but even then you need to jump through all the hoops).

    Good luck!

  2. I visited NZ recently and they are looking for particular professions, teaching, engineering, biotechnology, construction, creative (design), healthcare, it banking and finance.

see the immigration website below. good luck.

  3. Any reason you've put this in the Australia section?!  Best way to insult a New Zealander is to ask if they're Australian...anyway, New Zealand operates a points system, where you get points for qualifications, work experience and what you can give to the country.  The best advice I can give you is to check this website out:

which will tell you what you need to know.

  4. I assume you are in the UK now.

There is an Expo for NZ coming up - "Change your life and move to New Zealand!

Expos are held in October and April each year.

    See details http://www.expo-newzealand.com

Immigration are there to answer all your questions and help with forms... job offers are also made right there to the skilled.  Will be worth going for the info.
