  1. If you insist on getting a yamaha you are going to have to compromise;

    you are either going to get a bike that is a high maintenance, extremely fast track animal that sucks on the trails.

    or you are going to get a low maintenance, not as fast, more reliable, trail machine that sucks on the track.

    If you look into some of the other brands you can find a bike that is more of a compromise for what you want.

    One thing to note, although the bikes share the same displacement the YZ125 compares more directly to the 250cc class 4 strokes.

  2. The Yz 250f is the four stroke that replaced the Yz 125 on the track. They have the close to the same power. The ttr-125 will not be your best choice. 1 becuase for jumping and rough trails, it just isnt tough enough. You shoudl go with a Yz125 or a Yz250f.

  3. YZ 125, I had a TT-R 125 and i had to sell it because it was too small. I am 13 to and i would really like a YZ 125. If its your first bike 4 stroke is the way to go but if you have rode a bike and know the feel of the different weights i would recommend the 2 strokes,they are alot of fun to mess around with and they are loud. Who doesnt like that? lol.Hope this helped -JD

  4. what you need is the YZ250F - this is the 4 stroke version of the YZ125 - I have owned both of these bikes  - the 4 stroke is better for trail riding while the 2 stroke is better for the track.  I currently ride a 2006 YZ125 both on the track and on the trails.  I added a flywheel weight and that made a huge difference on the trails.

    I have also raced a YZ250F on motocross tracks and had a blast, but feel that he 125 performs better for the track.

  5. The TT-R125 will not handle any real track riding and the YZ125 will suck out loud on the trails, not to mention you'll spend more time changing out fouled plugs than you will riding. If you want to ride track and trails and want a Yamaha you need either the YZ250F or WR250F. Either will handle both conditions very well.
