how do you know whether you can have a mixer shower or not. I have a small tank above my big tank in my airing cubboard. The shower would be against the wall by the airing cubboard. If I cannot have a shower is there anyway I can get round it like installing a pump and if so where would the pump be based.

  1. Not really enough info to give a proper reply. Have you got a loft with a large water tank? If you only have a cold water feed tank in your airing cupboard the shower will have no pressure at all, and will not run. Even the installation of a pump needs a reasonably sized tank to feed it. Your 'small tank' sounds insufficient. We need more detail please.

  2. Won't have enough water pressure, move cylinder/tank up into loft,or buy electric shower.

  3. If  you have a gravity system[big tank in roof space-cylinder in airing cupboard] your halfway there. The bottom of the tank in the roof must be at least 3feet higher than the shower head position to work without a pump.If you dont have 3ft,you will need a pump. The pump can be installed in the airing cupboard or under the bath.A decent shower pump will cost£200-£300.T/static mixer £200.Installation cost £200 to£400.Added to that could be additional tiling and a shower screen.Good luck.

  4. sounds like a fortic with a tiddly cold cistern incorporated

there is insufficient cold water flow to keep the hot and cold supplied

min requirements are 25 gal cold, pref 50 gal cold. there are some workarounds but you would be better off with an electric shower.

alternatively you could get a cold tank put in the loft, you would almost certainly need a bigger hot tank and then the pump and install - a lot of money
