maybe could have a few pics also. I have 1/2 inch pvc pipe, and the place where I am wanting to put it, my bathroom sink is right there next to the wall. It would only be 12 to 16" away from cold water pipe coming up through the floor from the bathroom sink. I have all the tools, I think, for the job. And I also I have an 8 foot piece of pvc pipe, glue,a few elbows, and a shut-off valve. Just would like a little more advice and some pictures would be great. Thank you.

  1. The hardest part of the job will be to drill the hole through the wall to the outside. If is just wood siding then all you need is a 5/8' spade bit and extension to get through. If it is brick or block you will need a hammer drill which can be easily rented for an hour. Make sure that the spot where it will come through the wall is okay for the location outside. You will need to install a tee in the cold water line then a shut off valve on the inside of the wall, glue the outside hose bib to a piece of pipe and push it through to the inside and make your final connections there. Simple!

Remember to shut off the water supply and drain it from the outside for the winter or it will freeze.

Here is a basic diagram that may help you out.

  2. its not a big job, but, depending on where you live, if the possibility of freezing in the winter, they make an anti freeze or frost free type, that come in various lengths, you cant tell by looking at it from the outside, but the valve is actually 12 inches away so that its inside the house so it wont freeze, they are only a few dollars more.  Its all i use anymore, saves you from having to shut the water off in the winter time.  heres a link

  3. eaiser just to pick up a plumbing book from the hardwere store....your going to need 1/2 inch copper pipe to hook up to the cold water line coming up through the floor
