  1. Take the ASVAB and see what  is available to you.  It costs you nothing but time and it tells the story.

  2. Go in and let the military tell you what you will do. It's all so wonderful.

  3. Forget it. Anyone who would call themselves Pookie is going to become cannon fodder.

  4. If you are certain you want to join than go talk with a recruiter. They'll have you take the ASVAB and see which jobs are available to you. Than you can look into each job and see which one you like. I think they even give you a big book of jobs and explanations. I would do your own independent research too however, to see what jobs you can get when you get out.

(Also if you are going to go infantry than i recommend the Marine Corps.)

  5. Take the ASVAB, but more than that, what do you want to do. What do you like to do, just ask your self that. and see if what you want to do is available to you after you take the test

  6. Go 19 Kilo.

    19k (M1 Armor crewman)

I have 2 other bros who are 19k along with me. "The Lechner Tankers"

Anyways.. only 1 has shipped out.. my twin and I are shipping out after high school with the student delayed program. My older bro has knowledge of many mechanics from working with his tank, so that would be a good civilian job.

  7. I would suggest being an MP, or computer specialist, or communication specialist.  Infantry trains you for nothing in the outside world, unless you just want to do that, which some do.

  8. I agree on taking the ASVAB to see whats available first. The ASVAB will eliminate the jobs you don't qualify for. But you can always retake the ASVAB test if you didn't score high enough for the job you want.

Go to military.com and just research army jobs. When you speak to a recruiter you need to be specific.

It's good to see you thinking in advance. Your military career should reflect what you want to be when you leave the military. It's good to see that.

    My recommendation:

    Military Police

Remote Airborne Surveillance Plane (remote control plane)

    Intelligence

    Information Security

    Nuclear medicine / X-ray

    Anesthesiologist

    Linguist!!!

  9. AIR FORCE & NAVY for training

    ARMY & MARINES for killin

If you want civilian job training then join a union apprenticeship, you'll get paid more , you'll get more accomplished in whatever field you want to go in, and you'll make your own rules. I've talked to alot of soldiers that joined for "job training" and they regretted it.
