What number do I call? I don't think I should tie up the 911 number. I would also like to know if I would have to go to college to learn exactly what I would be saying or do they teach you right there? My other question is what age group do they hire, for instance is 20 years old too young and is 73 years old too old? Thanks.

  1. You can either call the NON-emergency number for the Piscataway police department, or go to their website and see if they are hiring or even accepting applications.

Any training you need will be provided by the agency that hires you, do not waste your own money by taking college courses that the agency that hires you will probably pay for with their tuition reimbursement program.

21 is usually the minimum age requirement.  18 will be the absolute youngest.

This is not a profession to get into when you are "older".  And I know "older" is a relative term so I'll try to be careful how I word this.... but let's just say it's a young persons profession to START, a person can be 60 and be a good dispatcher since they have been doing it for 30 years, but I would NOT recommend a 60 year old (or even a 50 or 40 year old) apply for the first time for a 911 Dispatcher position, I can almost guarantee they will not make it through training.

  2. Call the local police office or the civil service commission./
