  1. Add water.

You should be able to look up the freezing point of different concentrations.

If not you can check them by mixing solutions and seeing what temperature they freeze at in your freezer.

You can adjust how thin to make it for pumping then.

  2. I am not sure but I would guess that your Molafos is a mixture of Molasses and Phosphoric acid.  The mixture would supply both readily available energy and additional Phosphorous to the livestock.  It would also prolong the shelf life of the molasses and allow for dilution with water.  If you dilute Molasses with water to thin it, it doesn't help much in cold weather and weakens the preserving action of the high sugar content to allow fermentation.  That is how you make rum.  Just dilute molasses

  3. can u heat up  somehow

  4. You could use a peristaltic pump.  Its made to pump sticky stuff like jam, treacle etc.  A British company called Watson Marlow and a Dutch company called Bredel make them.

  5. We make molasses and thicken it by evaporating water from the cane juice. To thin it down, you just need to add water back to it. You may need to play around with it some to get it the consistency you need.

Molafos is an easy to use mineralised molasses live stock feed supplement. The winter product is high in energy and contains all the trace elements that livestock need over winter and spring.

Moafos is a trade name for Champion Liquid Feeds.

  6. That's right, winter in your part of the world, right now, isn't it?

10 C is equal to 50 F (for us Yanks).  Are you able to set the container your molafos comes in, in the sun, during the day?

I use cane molasses (5 gallon buckets) for my stock, during the winter.  I live in a MUCH colder place than you do.  Our winters the temp can get down to -51 C for extended periods of time (that's right, NEGATIVE C).

That would be negative 60 for any U.S.A. folks reading this.

I was able to set my five gallon bucket of molasses in the outside temperature, inside a black rubber tub, sitting on several feet of snow, and have fairly good results with it being runny enough for my use.

Do you have hot water available where the Molafos is added to the dairy feed?  You could thin it with some hot water.  That will make it much easier to spread.

By the way, I thought this product was fed free choice to the cows in an open tub, for them to l**k up whenever they wanted?  Is this incorect?

If it's normally just fed in tubs, so cows can self serve, wouldn't that be easier than trying to mix it in their daily ration?

I find it much easier to buy the molasses/mineral/protien tubs for my goats and allow them to self serve, than trying to mix everything just right, and make sure everyone gets what they need.  I have better results when my stock is serving themselves, rather than me trying to mix one ration that is for everyone.  Some does need more hay...some more minerals...some more salt....easier to let them choose.  Just my personal observation.
