  1. both answers above are good, and someone is out there, giving thumbs down without reason, which is ridiculous.

I do not believe there are any LISTS per se, of the persons on the Trail, however there is at least one (maybe more) diaries that have survived.

There were actually several groups.. and not all took exactly the same routes.

Your question is unclear.. how is Finkbone related to Missouri, if at all?  If you are trying to verify her Cherokee lineage (family tradition??), you probably need alternate information, perhaps out of something like Dawes rolls, etc. Not being on Dawes, isn't proof she was NOT, but it sure helps.

The other issue is (as mentioned) that there seems to be more than one.  You need some specific dates on her..even if it is a known child was born in 1850 (which means she would be born prior to that). Were descendants in either (later) Oklahoma or Arkansas?  keep in mind that ALL Cherokees did not REMAIN in Indian territory, if they went there to begin with.

I'm sorry, but this is all I got:

Your search for missouri bush found the following 0 results.

Your search for finkbone found the following 0 results.

The good news is there is a site which has several databases you can search for your Native American ancestor(s):

    Hope that helps!

  3. KPFROMBC deserves a big thumbs up.  Taking it to its natural conclusion, if that is your Missouri Bush, she wasn't on the trail of tears. Does that mean she was one of the displaced tribes? I doubt that, too. It would have been listed as a mixed marriage under Illinois law at that time. The fact that it wasn't listed is very important. Also, she's too young to have been on the trail and her parents are listed as being born in Ohio also precludes anyone from a displaced NC/GA tribe who was sent to Oklahoma. Those natives did not have the ability to leave their tribes and travel north. Those who did escape did their best to run away from Anglo society...not to run into it and embrace it. They also would not have gone into the lands of the Miami and Algonquin.

  4. I think I found the Bush/Finkbone connection.  If I have the correct ancestors you are referring to, as far as I could see, these census records list them as caucasian.   But then again, I could have the wrong Missouri Bush families altogether.  I was surprised to see that name was quite common.  This Missouri Bush has a sister named Kansas  :-).  The answers above have some great info.  Thumbs up to all!

In 1831 the Choctaw were the first to be removed, and they became the model for all other removals. After the Choctaw removal went the Seminole in 1832, then the Creek in 1834, then the Chickasaw in 1837, and then finally the Cherokee in 1838.

(NOTE--the paragraph above lists the years that members of the "5 Civilized Tribes" were forcibly removed from their lands and moved west in the Trail of Tears. So, if the Missouri Bush you are looking for WAS the one above, she was born way after it happened).

I wish you knew her birth year at least. Here's why:

    NAME--Missouri Bush

    BORN: abt 1841 - Alabama

                 abt 1881 - Pennsylvania

                abt 1883 - Louisiana

                abt 1859 - Mississippi

                abt 1890 - Alabama

                abt 1857 - Illinois

                abt 1881 - Virginia

                abt 1848 - Missouri

(that's just a few from the first 30 listings)
