I would like to know if there is such a thing as a correct hand position for bumping?

There is such a big issue about how to place your hands. One hand in the cup of the other or fingers crossing? I'm confused please help!

  1. if you cross you fingers, you could break them if you fall forward. If you make a fist and wrap your other hand around it you can get them apart more easily...  


  2. Yeah, my coaches tell me to ball one hand in a fist and wrap the other around it. But my old school taught me to cross my fingers, or whatever felt comfortable. To me, it didn't change anything. It's what feels comfortable, cause the only thing that matters is your footwork and form, not your hand preferance.

  3. There is no best way to do your hands as long as your forearms are level.  The heels of your should be together so that your forearms are together.

    I will agree.  NEVER lock your fingers.  One of the worst volleyball injuries I have ever seen was a player that had her fingers locked and was tripped by a team mate.  She fell to the floor straight fingers first.
