  1. Protected idal water from Canada's north end of Vancouver Island to Long Island located north of The Graveyard of Ships

    opposite Columbia River, USA.

Example would be launching at La Conner and allowing ebb

to swiftly carry hull south and then westward to landing upon

deserted Goat Island.  Look for trailhead at ruined wharf.  On

the western shore of this state wildlife preserve is concrete

ruin of abandoned Fort Whitman.  Free free to visit other nearby vacant islands or let tide carry hull up the north fork of Skagit River amid extensive tidal marshlands.  Flood tide can carry one past Goat Island to $3 day Parking below the

orange painted Sunset Bridge.  Nearby NAS provides any

number of interesting low transit military aircraft.

  2. Here in Southern California the best place I know is Newport 'Back Bay'.  Huntington Harbor is also good, as is Dana Point Harbor.

  3. Lots of great inland lakes and calm rivers all over the country... what are you wanting to see??

You can paddle in the northwoods of Wisconsin & Minnesota, the Wisconsin River is gorgeous, and you can disappear for weeks paddling the Boundary Waters.

Horicon Marsh in central Wisconsin is excellent - it's an amazing place for bird watching.  Look for protected wetlands near where you live, and you may find water trails that are marked for paddlers.

The Colorado River (on a non-windy day) is peaceful and amazing for calm water paddling.  Just down stream from Hoover Dam; the area is called Black Canyon, and it is a mesmerizing place.

The Green River in Utah is calm and can be paddled by novices, and there are tons of beautiful places to paddle in New England states too.
