Coin stores buy and sell "junk metal," which is to say they will buy your gold based on its weight.  If you have gold jewelry you can try a jewelry store that specializes in pre-owned jewelry.  Pawn shops are the worst idea.

At this rate, you want opinions from people who know the market.  It doesn't matter whether they are smart.  

It depends on what kind of gold you're trying to sell, coin, jewelry, or art. And what you want for it, cash or  trade.

I don't know if there is such thing as a best place to sell gold. You want a trustworthy place where you won't get ripped off.

I found a site that seems very legit.  Someone else asked this question, so I had already done some research on it for them.

The site I found was featured in USA Today, which I like, then you know it is reputable and legit.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, I just registered at the site.
