I can only guess that the objectives or policies of G8 must have hurt these people.

  1. yea, globalization may be a good thing for some rising countries like India or China where labor is cheap and so it is experiencing a surge of economic wealth. However, in other countries, outsourcing is a large problem.

Businesses are all about cost-effective methods. What is the cheapest way to make computers? What is the cheapest way to handle customer relations? In the end, businesses think that outsourcing is the solution, and it is...for businesses, not necessarily for the country as a whole.

  2. Because it brings down wages of countries and tries to make countries all on the same level, which is ludicrous because to do this means pretty much destroying some countries to make other countries stronger.

HOW they do this is through propaganda and just forcing people to take it...what they don't take into account for is the human spirit and pride that people have in their countries.

It is modern day imperialism and nothing more than that.

  3. Because its anti-poor.

Not only poor people in poverty stricken countries, but also to poor people in developed countries. Yes, poverty does exist, even in countries like America. Its just defined differently.

Take a pause and ask yourself how many factories in America closed down so they can move manufacturing overseas. Look closely at the labels of the things you use daily. How many of them are made in your own country.

Globalization translates to prosperous countries farming out manufacturing, production, and services to other countries in order to take advantage of lower wages.

I was in the US recently and saw the most amazing thing. A t-shirt selling for $34 (and its on sale!). For a moment I felt proud since the label says it was made in my country. But I realized I have shirts that are better in quality for under $3.50. I could only imagine how someone from my country slaved earning minimum wage to make this shirt. Minimum wage is about $3.80 per day with absolutely no medical, dental, or insurance in any form or type.

Many businesses in fact oppose any raise in wages. You see, at $3.80 per day, we are not competitive with China, India, Bangladesh, Shri Lanka, or Vietnam who pay even less.

I often hear the naive argument that the cost of living is lower in third world countries and that justifies our wages. Before you subscribe to this argument, take a look at the following, this is how much a family of four will need a daily basis:

    .45 - 1/2 kilo rice

    .70 - 1/2 kilo fish

.50 - about 3-4 types of vegetables, about 1/4 kilo total

    .20 - transportation

    .05 - cooking gas

    .10 - electricity

That's already $2.45 and it does not include education or housing.

What about in the US? How many lost their jobs because cars are now made in Mexico, toys in China, clothes in Asia?

  4. This is a simple answer, it is big brother taking over life.

In Paraguay a foreign company came in and purchased all the water rights then charged a unreasonable fee to get it, Peasants do not have money.

    Ever Read George Orwell.

  5. There is an importance for individuals being independent. besides, those who advocate "globalization" are for the benefits  of mainly rich nations, by exploiting poorer nations.

  6. Who needs such expensive G8 summits while discussing people living on a 1$ a day??? Try living in the third world country as a farmer and u will truly understand why a lot of people are against it... All these so called "rich countries' do is bleed the poor ones dry....

Nothing wrong with globalization as long it’s done in a sustainable and FAIR way....
