  1. Sardar are from respected Sikh Religion.

    They carry 5-things as per Religion hence called Sardar:

    1. Kaccha (shorts)

    2. Kara (Steel white bangle)

    3. Kirpan (sword shape knife)

    4. Kesh (long hair)

    5. Kanga (comb)

    5K = 5 fingers of hand which folded make a fist as a unity for Sardar or Sikh people.

Caste is a social system applicable to hindus....much like the medieval Europe where there were Serfs, Noblemen, clergymen etc. But Sardars are people who believe in Sikh religion and Sikhs do'nt believe in caste system, as it discriminates among people. Basically in present day parlance, anybody who wears a turban and professes to Sikh religion is called a Sardar. Present Prime Minister of India is a 'sardar'......Mr. Manmohan Singh.
