I see an officer giving an order, I don't see him or any of the other soldiers acting like this mattered.

The officer is not chewing out the soldier.

I say he was following orders.  the officer is responsible for his men and should be jailed.

although loss of command will usually ruin a career.  Forced retirement all that.

According to your link both will be tried or did I read it wrong?

  2. you can't generalize that all jews are bad and that all are good. sometimes incidents occur. it doesn't mean that israelis don't care about palestinian welfare or that all care. israel still belongs to the jewish people and many israelis and jews aim to find peaceful cohabitations (although some do not).. this also doesn't mean that palestinians are innocent of their crimes because of incidents.

  3. Well to me that is prime example of how things are investigated and tried in a western style democracy. It is our systems at their best when they hold accountable the soldier for his actions.

From what I understand about the incident the soldier that actually fired the rubber bullet will be one to go punished (as he should be) as he misunderstood the commander's order and fired the rubber bullet.  So it gets a bit questionable with the commander's involvement.  As far as the rock throwing protestor they are usually tried for what they have done but in cases where their rights were abridged in the process they are later not tried. They end up sometimes legally suing for whatever incident they were violated but learn a good example of cause and effect of their personal actions.

I do have disdain (not just for the soldier and the rock thrower) but also for the overzealous prosecuter (unnamed Advocate General)  that is making an assumption on the case (he's making a generalized statement about the commander.)  This prosecutor's name is not mentioned in the article while the commander's name is now publicly smeared (who has yet to be found guilty.) If he's going to make such a public statement about smearing someone who's actions are questionable then we should also know his name.  He should not have made those comments it shows lack of professionalism.

It wasn't long ago in American politics that we had a prosecutor (Nifong, Duke Rape Case) that made some really inflammatory comments about the accused and ruined their reputation.  So why is it the soldier we all saw fire the rubber bullet name is not mentioned, nor is the prosecuting attorney who boldly makes statements about people, but the commander's name is public when his part to play is actually what is questionable?

I really really have the upmost respect for legal systems and facts and detest assumptions and political maneuvering.  Besides the attorney (who Israel should now investigate,) media outlets also put their own "spin" on things and people that hate Israel probably will spin it some too as they do every opportunity they get.

But like I said my opening comment, it's good in our western systems that people are put on trial for things they have done.  We try our own. We have a great system.

Western democracies compared to what happens in other countries is like night and day. As we speak Iran is nabbing young women off the street who aren't wearing hijab and throwing them into the back of police cars and executing women rape victims on grounds of adultery and men rape victims on grounds of homosexuality and assassination attempts kidnaps and beheadings are commonplace in other non-Western style gov'ts.  It wasn't long ago that we saw Hamas do a bloody murderous overthrow of Fatah in Gaza they stripped men half naked and  threw one from the top of a tall building.  Where is that justice? And why do people insist on Israeli restraint when it's obvious that Israel exhibits the most proper behavior under excruciating circumstances.  I love Western democracies.

  4. My opinion is that Jews arrest anybody who disobeys the law, even if he shot a rubber bullet at a Palestinian who took part in a violent riot.

The Palestinians praise anybody who disobeys the...the...oh wait they don't have a law.

They praise anybody who kills, murders, linches a Jew.

Oh wait, they do have a law.

Anybody who speaks up for justice must be killed, if a Palestinian speaks up for Israel he is murdered in public and his corpse is mutilated.

    Whats your opinion on that?

  5. Israel is a country were laws are upheld.
