  1. Oh dear me, you really don't understand that Rotation speed is affected by four main things: THE AIRCRAFT  (Duhhh!), The wind/flaps & The runway size.

    Just as an example:

A 737-800 will have a general rotation speed of 140knts, with flaps at 5, and a suitable runway.

    Please specify the type of aircraft next time;

    Rory :)

  2. a cessna 172 can take off at 40 knots

  3. Most commercial aircraft rotate, that is the nose wheel leaves the ground at around 120-130 knots. At around 140-175 knots the aircraft leaves the ground and starts flying. For smaller aircraft, The speed is much lower. Most corporate jets rotate at around 90 knots and start flying at 100-125 knots, While most propeller driven aircraft can rotate at as low a speed as 40 knots and start flying at anywhere from 50-90 knots depending on the aircraft.

  4. Depends on alot more than four things Rory my man. And wind and runway length sure have nothing to do with it. And just what the h**l is a "general rotation speed"? Jeez man.

  5. Much faster than any other mode of transportation. Don't worry about exact figures, as there will always be variations depending on Aircraft type,  temperature and weight etc. All Airline Pilots are well trained to know the correct speeds for a specific flight.

Take off speeds are far lower than cruising speeds.

Sit back relax and enjoy your flight!

  6. well it depends on the airplane...you have to check the pilots operating handbook for that or just look it up online...for basic 737-400 its around 140 knots..heres a website for the 737s and the airbus

  7. The average speeds are......

    737: 150 mph or 250 kph

    747: 180 mph or 290 kph

    757: 160 mph or 260 kph

Concorde: 225 mph or 360 kph

    A320: 175 mph or 275 kph

    A340: 180 mph or 290 kph

  8. Just ignore Rory M... runway length and winds do not come in to play with the rotation speed.  Temperature, altutude, weight, etc are factors and it varies, but 120-150kts is a good ballpark on a commercial aircraft.

  9. It varies but its above 100 knots to less than 200 knots.  It seems like theres more to your question and you got interrupted, please finish.
