I would like to know when I am supposed to use CD's, and when to use DVD's, Dvd-rw and CD-R. Thanks

  1. It depends on how your using your disc. If your just burning a music cd. Cd-r will do the job. If you want to burn a movie. Use the dvds. the rw means rewritable. which means you can erase the disc after you've already burnt it. This is what I commonly use the disc for. You can burn files as data which can only be used on the your pc. If you burn them as data it doesn't matter which disc you use. A cd holds 700mb.  A Dvd holds 4.7gb. there are 1000mb to 1gb. which means your dvds are capable of holding a lot more.

  2. You can use CD's when the file you want to burn is below 700MB. You can use DVD's when the file you want to burn is about 1gb - 4.7 gb. You can use DVD-RW and CD-RW if you want to erase the contents of the CD/DVD after burning or you have already back-up it.
