    Bismuth was discovered by the Persian alchemist, Jabir ibn Hayyan (also known as Geber), in the 8th century.[3] Basilius Valentinus described some of its uses in 1450. Claude François Geoffroy demonstrated in 1753 that this metal is distinct from lead.

    It was discovered by the Incas and the Germans but much later Claude Geoffrey in France discovered that it was not the same as lead.
