I would like to know why alchol/drug addiction are spiritual diseases?

I have a 2 hour lecture tomorrow and would like to get different perspectivs on this matter from people araound the world.

Walle, Drug addiction can be hard to control. Many people have lost jobs, friends, and loved ones because they could not break thier drug habits. I suggest you seek some help. Because (or so it's said) you become addicted to them because of your own spiritual weakness, and can only kick them by showing spiritual strength.

Basically, nobody forces you to become an addict, it's down to the choices that you make in life.

most addicts become morally and spiritually bankrupt or bereft while in the throes of addiction. In order to recover they need to address these voids or their abstinence will be rocky at best. the 12 steps of AA/NA address the moral and spiritual issues that cause the alarming rate of recidivism.

because u cant get rid of the addiction except f u have the will & spiritual strength, all the medicine the world will not help u unless u have those 2 things
