  4. We are in a severe drought and the increased population and growth that went unchecked isnt helping.

Get updated drought information at www.georgiadrought.org. The state drought Web site includes information on how to deal with the drought.

The University of Georgia automated weather stations may be accessed at www.georgiaweather.net. This UGA network has 71 automated weather stations statewide.

  5. I think Georgia is garnering a lot of attention because Lake Lanier, Atlanta's main supply of water, is drying up.  As of October, there was predicted about a three-month supply of water left.  My aunt lives in Atlanta, and the sight of the lake drying, according to her and my Dad, is terrible.

  6. It's not just in Georgia it's in many states across the country. It's all b/c of the record lows of rainfall this year. Some blame it on global warming, others say it is because the rapidly increasing growth of the country and all of the new developments that have expanded causing more water consumption.
