  1. First u have to learn French. People in French don't speak English much. How can u survive in a country when u know nothing about their language. Why don't you move to England? At least they speak English:-)

  2. Ignore the above answer that states you have to speak French; the English don't exactly follow that rule. France is currently being overrun with British expats who don't speak French buying up property, and creating English communities all over France where they are drunk constantly on the streets and in the cafe bars, and are demeaning to locals. Take the new British influx into consideration before you move there.

  3. you can work there like maybe as a contractor, go for it man

  4. It is easy to go.  Impossable to work without speaking French.  And when they kick you out-because you are limited on how long you are allowed to stay, you will not only be ready, but you will kiss the ground in the USA on arrival and then remember how great we have it here, government and all, and thank God Almighty that you can return.  Europe is wonderful to visit and see, if you can afford it and have time to visit, but living and working there are not as easy or as much fun.  Only after being in another country do you fully appreciate what we have here and how good we have it.  Ask anyone.  Why do you think everyone wants to come here?  Go there and you will find out and then think again before you dis this country and our way of life.

Note to Sloantr:  Enjoy yourself and good riddance to you.  If you don't like our country, YOUR answer is to run away and complain about it in someone else's country?  That is what cowards do.  Ask the Arab expats who run away from Hammas and come here to complain, just like you, instead of staying in their own country and fighting against them and fighting for what they believe in.  If you don't like it here, stay and fight for what you want to change instead of running away to some place you think is better.  You make ME laugh.  What do you study?  How to be an ignorant and self-righteous leach living off your boyfriend?  It is unpatriotic people like you that is the problem here.  GOOD BYE!

  5. First of all, YOU CAN'T WORK THERE.

Secondly, you MUST furnish PROOF that you have an independent income of $1,500 PER MONTH in order to get a resident alien visa.

    Third... YOU MUST SPEAK FRENCH

Why do people who are losers in AmeriKa think they can just move to a foreign country... NOT SPEAK THE LANGUAGE.. not have SKILLS they can make a living with... when they can't even WORK legally... and then think they are going to be anything BUT a LOSER in the foreign country.

You need a reality check... you have some false mental image of how you are going to move to France... get a good job and marry a beautiful French woman... AND YOU WON'T.

  6. First, visit there. Do you have any friends there you could stay with? If not, just go and stay in a hostel and check it out for a few weeks; look into job possibilities, apartment prices and the like; if when you return to the US you still want to go to France, you will have a better idea of what you're getting into, what to prepare for, etc.

Visit the embassy while you're over there visiting to see what it will take to live there. You need a visa, I believe, if you want to be there for more that 3 or 6 months.

And then you've got to learn French. If you're really going to move there, get a really great language learning program like Rosetta Stone.

(By the way, I just read a book called Cest la Vie about an American woman who moves to France by herself. The book can give you a taste of what it's like to go apartment hunting, shopping for furniture and stuff over there)

Best of luck to you in your quest!

  7. Ok, first of all, Paris Traveler, your response made me laugh. You are one of those Americans who actually believe our country is the greatest. You must be Republican. Our country is in a horrible state and does not look to be getting any better. I am currently studying abroad in France and I absolutely love it! I have no desire to return to the United States, but unfortunately I have to. France is the best place I have ever been. I am returning to the United States to finish college and the moment I graduate, I am moving back here. America is horrible and you are trying to ignore that fact. And once I get back to France, I will be kissing the ground here and thanking my lucky stars that I am here and not in America.

As for the question, it is very difficult to just move here without knowing the language or anyone here. You could try taking some French classes and trying to find a job, they list them on the Internet. And a lot of people speak English here, contrary to what someone said, but it is much more respectful to speak French. Try and do all of this before you move. I know you don't want to stay in that country any longer than you have to. I truly understand how you feel. And it is easier to marry a French citizen. Fortunately for me, my boyfriend is French so when we get married, I will be able to live here for good. But just try to learn French and find a job that you have skills for. Also, I've heard the paperwork takes a while so be prepared. And if you want to live in Paris, it is a bit expensive so save some money! I hope this helps!

HAHAHA Paris Traveler, you crack me up! You must be kidding right? This has to be a joke. Where's the hidden camera? Oh my goodness, you actually believe America is the best. Well, I think the reason you didn't like Paris or any other region in the Earth is because they didn't have enough McDonald's and Pizza Hut's around every corner for you. You can call me unpatriotic, I could care less. I am voting in the next election because I do love my country and I don't want to see it suffer, but I know that I would be happier elsewhere. I don't want to end up like you, sorry. I know everyone aspires to be a close-minded, ignorant 'proud Americun' like you, but I don't. And going to college to 'leech' off my boyfriend? Last time I checked, college was for people who are trying to better themselves by getting an education and getting a job when they graduate, which you can bet is what I will be doing. Looks like college is a place that you never went. But it's expected of people like you. And if you did go to college, I'd be mad if I was one of your professors because obviously nothing went through your thick skull. I love America, but I happen to love France more. I'm exactly like our friend here who asked the question in the first place, I have always dreamed of moving to Europe even before I visited here. And I love America, but I hate our government. Now I'm not saying that France is the perfect country, because it's not, but it's a far cry better than America. And I guess that it's just a bonus that by moving here, I get further and further away from people like you. Now THAT puts a smile on my face. Have fun living under a corrupt government.

Again, I'm sorry that I had to put this with my answer, but some people will never get it. But this is one of the reasons that you want to move away isn't it? If you do end up moving to France, let me know and we can meet up and have a drink and feel sorry for Paris Traveler!

  8. you should probably go to an immigration office. moving to a different country is a long and difficult process. if i where u i'd go to france for about a month and see if you like it. also you'd need to earn a lot of $ before moving there because the dollar is very weak right now. for about 1.30$ you get one euro. its probably more than that now tho. also in the big cities like paris appartments are extremly small. a two bedroom apartment is considered big in paris and when entering the free way it cost around 1 euro just for driving on the free way. its not necessary to learn french before moving but it would certainly help. most people there do speak a little english because london is only 3 hours away from paris. best of luck. hope this helped
