I would like to plan a surprise for my boyfriend in Paris in April/May. Does anyone have any suggestions?

He lives in Paris so I'd like to do something out of the ordinary. Something he wouldn't expect. It can be something romantic or sports related. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you are not there, fly up there and take him someplace so out of the ordinary that he wouldn't even have heard of it.. Or, if you don't speak french and he had to learn English, learn French and then don't tell him and the next time you see him, start talking to him in French!

My first thought when I saw your question was "wow, I wanna be your bf so I can go to Paris."  OTOH, you're going to Paris bc he's there.

Seriously, the most memorable events are things that come from the heart.  Consider cooking him a homecooked meal.  If you are from the US or Canada, consider bringing some frozen (on dry ice) steaks.  The French have wonderful food, but their beef is usually tough and with little or no marbel (great for your health, but dry)-- once you see their beef, you will know why some French ppl eat the beef very rare (bleu-- meaning "blue" or barely cooked on the outside and bright red raw on the inside).  But I digress.  I suggested US or Canadian steaks because I am sure that he'll love them!  You might have to do some research about whether or not you can bring frozen meat to France.  An alternative is bringing canned Virginia ham to Paris.  I know that you can bring canned cooked meats to Europe.
