I am very interested in and would like to pledge Delta Sigma Theta, but my schools chapter is suspended till after I graduate. I was wondering if I would be allowed to pledge at a nearby school and if so, how would I go about doing that. I really do not want to transfer schools but am very interested in joining this organization. I am aware that there is graduate chapters but just want to know if there are other options.

  1. Have you looked into a NPC organization?

I personally recommend Chi Omega :)

Please google Tamira Cole. She's one of my sisters and she's done wonderful things for our chapter at home and nationally. Her family really wanted her to be in a NPHC sorority but she decided to go her own way and she has been a true trail blazer and great role model for young ladies and Chi O's everywhere. :)

  2. Unfortunately, if you are attending a school where a chapter of a NPHC sorority/fraternity is chartered and that chapter is suspended there is no way for you to join.  You won't be able to pledge at a nearby school.  If this is really where your heart is continue to be successful in whatever you are doing and pursue Delta at the graduate level when you become eligible to do so.  I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but sorry this is the truth.

  3. You only options would be to transfer to a school that has an active chapter, or to wait until you graduate and join an alum chapter. Since you are not willing to transfer (and I wouldn't either just to pledge an org) then I was suggest that you wait until after you graduate. Membership is  lifetime commitment, and Delta will still be around, and strong once you graduate. I know some people only want to join undergrad to get that "undergrad experience" but going through a grad chapter can be just as rewarding.

    Good luck to you!

  4. I think that you would have to transfer to another school and pledge. I know a boy that went to summer school at another school and they had a summer line. He made the line and then came back to our school in the fall. You can always do that. Do some research about nearby schools or schools in your hometown. Since you will be from a different chapter than the one on your campus, I am pretty sure that you will be able to wear your letters because usually you cant if your chapter is suspended on campus. Grad chapter is okay but undergrad is way better. Good Luck.
