I'd go with the Toyota, not a Ford fan but maintenance is one thing you should NEVER skimp on!  If you want reliability and longevity from any vehicle, regular and appropriate service is the most important thing you can do.  That means regular oil changes, transmission services, cooling system services, changing filters and so forth.  Refer to your owners manual for recommendations.

Toyota is consistently voted the most reliable car brand EVER.  In a recent Consumer Reports article Toyota took IIRC 6 of the top 10 most reliable car model slots, Honda took the other 4.  Ford did not even make the list.

i would think ford as its a larger company so there are more parts avalible

toyota is the best for durability, mainly because, in japan, they dont buy new cars like we do every 5 years or so. so because of this, they make their cars to last 15 to 20 years, parts are a bit high, as with any of these new cars, but the parts go longer. i had a 98 toyota corrolla that used to be a rental car, later i found out that the whole front end of the car was replaced, because it rear-ended a dump truck. they must have done a good job cause it ran like a top, but after 4 kids, we needed something bigger.
