  1. do you have a couple now and then? Or a steady stream? If you have a steady stream, I would consider working on reducing the amount you have to dispose of first. Recycling is not the answer to "too much garbage". It merely shifts the garbage to a different disposal stream. We need to dispose of less (though recycling is a step above the landfill)

that being said, If you only have one now and then, do you have a worm composter? Those little red devils will eat anything. if you don't have a worm composter, I would suggest starting one. They are fantastic.

  2. I know some people who use them to store their children's artwork and school papers.  You could line the inside with clean paper, and decorate the outside then put a label on an outside edge so you could see at a glance what the contents of each box is when they are stacked on a shelf.  You could store additional craft supplies (i.e. paper and crayons) in them, and they would make great travel craft or coloring kits, the large surface would make a nice laptop desk for a child in a car.

  3. If you know any quilters, ask them if they could use them to put their quilt blocks in..  I am a quilter and I find that they are just the right size to store finished blocks in as you complete them for a quilt.

    This is just from experience.

  4. if you garden or compost, they are great grass killers. just toss them down on the grass you want to get rid off for your garden - the grass dies off in a few days.

i personally use the top piece (that'd be the part without grease or cheese stuck to it) for several things:

    1) mailing documents - keeps photos, etc from getting bent during shipping - just cut it up to fit in the envelope

    2) cat litter - shove it under the cat box to catch stray litter

    3) cat scratch pad  - my cats think pizza boxes are the BEST thing to rip up

    4) cat claw repellent - my cats like to shove their paws under the closed door and scratch. i have duct taped pizza box lids under all the doors in my house to keep the carpet from being mutilated

    5) drawer divider  - cut to fit your junk drawer, sock drawer, whatever

    6) dump some perfume or other good smelling substance on them and toss them in your drawers to make your clothes smell good - or if you are really into oregano, don't bother scenting them!

    7) cutting board - only works once or twice

  5. Um if you have kids then they can use them to make houses out of. When I help with a kindergarden class then we take cereal boxes pizza boxes stuff like that and make trains and huge hotels and houses for them and there dolls. Hope this helps you!!

  6. You can use them as flannel board stories that pre-school teachers use

  7. Well you can also make bricks out of them,In some areas of the world they make bricks called papercrete there is a video on yt called making papercrete.A cinder block size brick weighs only 3lbs and is very flame resitant, and cheep to make.60lbs paper.120gallons water.90lbs portland cement =80 bricks aprox.Hope this helps, also look up earthships made of all recycled materials.

  8. I think they are great to soak up the oil when I change the oil in the car.  Then when I throw them away in the dumpster, it doesn't leak out the bottom.

  9. Depends on how many you have!  First, scrape as much food off as possible so as not to draw bugs.  But I've actually used them, opened all the way flat, underneath cat litter boxes, to catch litter the cats scatter.  Use underneath anything else that you might need in order to catch debris, instead of news paper when painting or re-finishing a piece of furniture.  Under your knees while gardening.  Burn them in a fire pit (something else we've done).

I wish the recycling people would take them, and we've cut way way back on ordering pizza out since we can't put them in the recycling bins.

  10. I use all sizes of pizza boxes to transport cupcakes and other treats back and fourth to work and school.

  11. I use the large ones (20 inch) to block the sun from entering my vehicle.    After all the hardened cheese has been chewed off I use them to start my stove.

  12. you can recycle them.  I do.  also, last year I made a piniata and it lasted for about 40 whacks!!  A spongebob one.  Make christmas decorations, stack 20 up and cover it with wrapping paper to act as a big gift under the tree and put money under one of them.  Ornaments. Use a few and build a play TV for the kids.  Use your imagination, its the best you can do, or else you could always put them on the curbside for recycling.  You can also put them on Freecycle and give them away.  Check your recycling center to see if they will accept them.  Not all areas do.  MIne does.

  13. mayb compost them? cardboard makes great compost ..

  14. You can use them with children or family, or donate them to a local school to use in science classrooms, as well.

It is fairly easy to make small-scale solar ovens out of old pizza boxes, and english muffin pizzas or s'mores are productive recipes for such a baking technique!

  15. In Philadelphia, we do recycle cardboard, as long as it is clean.  I will actually cut out all of the soiled spots and throw that in the trash while putting the rest in our single-stream recycling system.  This way, at least 50-75% of the box can still be recycled.
