  1. You can start by going to work for a Marina that takes care of boats... You will start at the bottom, but if you are a hard worker, you will excel pretty fast since people that have expensive boats, want good people cleaning and maintaining them.  It wouldn't take long to establish your name if you are a good worker, ant to that point where you could start your own business after a couple of years.

If you want to do the mechanical work on them, then attending a trade school would be a good place to start.

  2. The best "site" I know is at my marina... Where this gal in her 40's has hired 8 girls (all in their bikinis)... The business is called "The Mermaids"...

The woman does nothing more than book the girls to clean your boat and she also collects the $ in advance (and lets you know that doesn't include any tips).  The girls (always working in pairs) do all the inside only, but for a small additional fee will do the cushions, dash, helmstation, and  and windows on the exterior... they also take all your laundry and do it... including window drapes, bedding etc.  (lots of live aboards here). For me, it costs an original $60 (I have a 60 footer) and another $20 in tips... and I go for it about once a month.

The "girls" do a wonderful job... and I do mean wonderful... I mean the clean floors, walls, ceilings, books, behind books, shelves, everything on the shelves... cabinets, closets, everything...  I get the whole place sparkling clean, they do a much better and thurough job than I ever would... when they leave, the place (even the head) smells really good, my bed linen is all clean and smells good, and all my laundry is clean and folded nice and neat... and put away... Each girl leaves a Hersheys' chocolate kiss and a small bag of 3 homemade (either chocolate or white chocolate - macadamia nut cookies) with a note and their business card (which has their picture on the back) One is usually left on my pillow, and the other on my dinnette table. They always come and go within an hour... They usually are out here busy cleaning the weekenders' boats on Friday mornings... and all us old full timers living  aboard come back from breakfast at the club and walk around the docks with our Starbucks coffee in hand and watch the girls work...  So... talk about a "good site" - that's a good site to watch... lol

Don't know how a guy could ever compete it - but maybe it will give you an idea...

    Happy & Safe Boating!
