Question:

I would like to tutor Spanish, but I'm not sure how?

I think that giving private tutoring in Spanish would be an excellent way for me to earn some extra income (I'm a Spanish teacher)... but the trouble is, I'm not sure how I can do it. I looked into a tutoring job at the university, but they only hire students.

I have a degree in Spanish and speak fluent Spanish. I've tried putting up fliers, putting an ad in the paper and craigslist, and asked everyone I know but I've had no luck.

I really am desperate for the extra income... how can I go about doing this?

If you can help me thank you!!!!

  1. Monolingual American kids hate the fact that they have to take Spanish for 2-3 years in the first place, so it's unlikely many will want to PAY to study the hated language more after school.

  2. If you have posted your flyer on community college and high school bulletin boards and gotten no results, would you consider teaching ESL evenings or weekends? There is quite a bit of demand for it and although your Spanish would not be a requirement, it would be a plus. Many primary and secondary schools are offering evening classes for parents, and of course most community colleges have a waiting list of students and could probably add another staff member.

Also, many bilingual people who speak Spanish at home but have not studied its grammar are now interested in polishing it up for job skills, so maybe classified advertising in Spanish-language newspapers or websites is not a bad idea.

  3. Run an ad in el diario

  4. TV Station? Oh and I would learn but only for free over the internet. I HAVE to pass Spanish the next few semesters. :(
